Mulberry Pattern Cards

Greeting cards with mulberry envelopes

This form of decoration is paper ‘bargello’ – a term applied originally to fabric that was modelled on examples from the Bargello Palace. It is made from mulberry paper strips glued horizontally and parallel to one another on a thin sheet of paper and varnished with PVA. The sheet is then cut into vertical strips which are manipulated into patterns. The effect is similar to woven paper.Thee envelopes are cut from a rust coloured milled mulberry.
